Photographing
Photograph is relativly easy in the India, people are acustomed with it
and they like to be photographed. But often can happen to you that you
will refuse yourself photograph them. Through they like to be photographed
it is difficult to take them naturaly. The reason is that when they find
you want to photograph them, they become unnatural - they thrust forth,
put their smile away, and look right on you. When you do not photograph a
landscape or an architecture you need not an tripod. It can happend
strange thing to you in most of historical buildings. It is easy to
underestand that the photograph is prohibited there or you will have to
pay for it, but I did not underestood, that they did not allow me to use a
tripod there. Always I had to let my tripod at an entrance. I mention
about one event. I was in the city Allepey (I spent 14 days here) in time,
when a regatta was here. This regatta take place every year here and they
race with the boats with eight paddles for 40 men and more. It was
interesting watching the changes of the city, what is called Indic Verona.
I watched an cleaning of the streets, water canals and the parade with
alegorical chariots (it was similar with first may parade in our country
15 years ago). In the day of regatta I went to the place on the coast of
the lake, where the regatta took place. This place was prepared for
landing of the helicopters with president and his attendance. I was
surprised that there was very little of visitors there (about 150 people).
Lot of them was in the top of the trees for better view. When the
helicopters start to land most of them fall down from their trees because
of strong wind. I try to get it on the photograph. There was the first
helicopter with the president flourished in its door, the other helicopter
still five meters over the land and already mentioned people on the trees.
I photographed only one snap but the sun was covered with the clouds. But
right after I prepared my camera, some policeman start to pull my camera
from my face with the long stick. Then the president walk about 5 meters
from me and get in the black armoured Chevrolet and I can not take even a
one snap. I suppose it could be an unique snaps. But on the other side
when I remember how short is life of indic presidents, I had a luck that
the policeman only abused at me. When you spend longer time in the country,
you will start photograph less; nothing can surprise you, nothing inspire
you, and you will lost natural need to photograph ordinary things. It is
better to make your films here. I did not do it and I took the films home,
and the colours of films was changed and a fog was on it, thanks the wet
and hot. There is films of every world companies in the India and Pakistan,
and often you can buy it cheaper than in our country. The most distributed
mark is Konica, Kodak and Fuji. Agfa is most distributed in the Pakistan.
Billboards of this marks are such numerous as the billboards for the boots
from Bata. And they are realy everywhere.
