Botox

This is a method of filling wrinkles on your face without surgical lifting and without a surgical knife. Currently there is a whole range of methods and products which can smooth your skin. Silicon, collagen and other substances are used.

Botox injections are the latest world technology. Botulotoxin (medicinally called Botox) influences nervimuscular discs and gradually initiates muscle relaxation. A myorelaxation injection is applied and causes relaxation of mimic muscles and smoothes wrinkles.

Botulinum Toxin Type A is a toxin that blocks neuromuscular transmission when injected in tiny amounts into specific muscles to treat and improve lines and wrinkles associated with facial expression.

Manufactured under the names of Botox and Dysport.

Botox in cosmetology is a highly diluted nerve toxin that today is the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure. With over 4 million procedures annually, Botox injection has a solid safety record. The only problem has been with counterfeit material and incompetent injectors.

The method has a significant effect on areas such as wrinkles around eyes or at the top of the nose, and has proved far better then the collagen application used so far. There is a minor risk of side effects so we adopt a method which is completely safe using smaller applications to avoid any risk. The result is visible within 10 days and lasts from 3 to 6 months. Then, it is possible to repeat the procedure so that its effects are prolonged. The treatment is undertaken without any anaesthesia and the client can leave after applications and return to their normal life.

Prague Clinic has had the longest experiences with BOTOX in the Czech Republic and is the only clinic using the method. BOTOX is the trade name for the medical product used, our doctors can also recommend products with different names made other manufactures.

Skin implants injections

Skin implants ( Collagen, Restylane, Aquamid, Hylaform ) are successfully used for the following corrections:

• wrinkles on forehead, lips, around eyes and lips
• lines and acne scarring
• atrophy caused by an illness or accident
• defects caused by plastic surgery of nose, skin grafts or other surgically caused defects
• other soft tissue defects

Collagen

Collagen injections are used as implants to remove scars and wrinkles. They were developed in Stanford University in California and have been used in countries with advanced aesthetic medicine since 1976. Specially treated bovine protein is used which is very close to human collagen. Although collagen does not normally cause any negative reactions of the immune system tests are carried out to test product tolerance before treatment.

Collagen is derived from the hides of cows specially bred for the purpose. Collagen can also be derived from pig skin. Because collagen is an animal product, a collagen test skin implant is administered to determine whether the patient is allergic to the implant, four weeks prior to the treatment.

Collagen is manufactured under many names, two of which are Zyderm and Zyplast.

Collagen products used in Prague Clinic are registered by the Health Ministry of the Czech Republic.

Restylane

Restylane is made in Sweden, a nation known for health, nature and beauty. Since 1996, more than a million people have been successfully treated in more than 60 countries worldwide.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that exists naturally in the body. Its most important function is to carry and bind water. Non- animal, stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) does not contain animal protein and does not require a skin test prior to treatment.

NASHA is a unique form of hyaluronic acid, manufactured under the name of RESTYLANE.

Aquamid

Aquamid injectable implants are indicated for facial and body contour correction and reconstruction.

Aquamid injectable implants are made from a homogeneous (no microspheres or particles) polyacrylamide hydrogel. Our gel contains 2.5% crosslinked polyacrylamide and 97.5% apyrogenic water. The gel is sterile, stable, and biologically inactive.

The hydrogel is non-toxic, resistant to biodegradation, and cannot pass through biological membranes because of the large molecular size of the cross-linked polyacrylamide. It is transparent, odourless, pH neutral and insoluble in all known solvents.

Aquamid injectable implants are made in Copenhagen, Denmark, by the healthcare company Ferrosan A/S.

Hylaform

Doctors are now hitting lines and wrinkles with their best shot - literally. The latest breakthrough in non-surgical cosmetic treatments, a new injectable gel called Hylaform, recently received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Used in countries around the world since 1996, it is the hottest new wrinkle-removing option available consumers.

Hylaform is a clear colorless gel made from purified hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance (complex sugar) found throughout the body in all living cells. Hyaluronic acid is chemically, physically and biologically similar in all species. Injected just under the skin's surface, hyaluronic acid delivers nutrients and hydrates the skin to "plump" a targeted area and temporarily remove wrinkles.

Because hyaluronic acid is naturally present in human skin, Hylaform does not require a pre-treatment skin test. It provides immediate, natural-looking results. Common side effects such as swelling and redness are mild, and treatment and recovery usually take as little as one hour.
