INTRODUCTION

The purpose of these pages is to permit the access to some possibly still serviceable results accumulated in about thirty years of research and experimental activities of the above author. This is an attempt to ovoid the fate of many professional heritages ending up in anonymous archives, museum depositories or in the hands of laic collectors.

The first part of these pages is focused to the pioneering period of pathogenic free-living amoebae research trying to develop the revelatory observations of C.G. Culbertson, C. Butt, M. Fowler, R.F.Carter and their co-workers. In those days even the taxonomic identity of amoebae seen in tissue of animals and men was uncertain. The basic facts defining clinical features, epidemiology, pathological manifestations and effective intra vitam diagnostic methods of primary amoebic meningoencephalitis has been put together step by step only. In the attached chronological list of published papers citations concerning experiments with the pathogenic Acanthamoeba culbertsoni strain A 1 are highlighted by bluish background. Reddish background  accentuates citations related to Naegleria fowleri  and primary amoebic meningoencephalitis. Full texts of some papers are hyperlinked.

Since there is a plentitude of up to date texts on „pathogenic free-living amoebae“ available in different internet presentations the main body of these pages is utilized for digitalized originals of then photomicrograph documentation.

These materials are given free at disposal to anyone who might be concerned to use them to improve his foreknowledge, for pedagogical purposes, further research, publication etc. To mention the name of the author at such situations would be considered as an act of colleagueall politeness.
