Brief description of AMU-Center Aarhus

AMU-Center Aarhus is among the leading and largest of the 24 adult vocational training centres of Denmark, all within the framework of the Danish Ministry of Labour. The pres-ent number of staff is approximately 200.

We offer more than 400 nationally recognised courses and train about 17,000 students per year. Our annual output is 30,000 weeks of training.

The target group of our vocational training programmes is unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers, supervisors, technicians and apprentices from the private as well as the public sector. We also offer retraining courses for unemployed and specially tailored training programmes for various disadvantaged groups.

We deliver training in most fields of occupation, such as transport and logistics, construc-tion, the metal industry, electronics, child care, catering, etc. In addition, we offer a num-ber of non sector-specific courses in e.g. personal development, customer service, quality and environment awareness, teambuilding etc.

Our courses constitute a flexible, modular system which makes it easy to meet current lo-cal and regional training needs. The training may be carried out in our own training facili-ties as well as in enterprises.

The International Department of AMU-Center Aarhus transfers knowledge and expertise from the Danish adult vocational training system to clients and partners abroad. Our train-ing and consulting services are tailored to the needs of the individual client and co-operation partner. We have considerable international experience from assignments carried out for the European Commission, Danida and a number of national and international do-nor organisations and companies.
