KLUB COTON DE TULÉAR

Let me introduce the Czech Republic as a small country in the middle of Europe, to be said „Heart of Europe“. Czech people are well known as great lovers of dogs and so it was easy for cotons to be settled there.

In the 1991 and 1992 came first cotons from breeding station of Woodland Cottage to the Czech Republic. They were two females merry Pulchérie of Woodland Cottage, adorable Pandora of Woodland Cottage and male Queens of Woodland Cottage. In 1992 was also imported coloured male Quovadis of Woodland Cottage and female Quatsiope of Woodland Cottage followed. And this way was established breed of this beautifull race. Step by step Czech breed of cotons enlarged and Coton de Tuléar won Czech´s hearts therefore gained new homes with full of love.

Cotons came from all ends of the world e.g. from far but beautiful North, Finland, Denmark and Sweden, form sunny Italy, Belgium and sweet France. In the Czech Republic we have cotons even from mystery and beautiful island Madagascar, which is their home of origin.

Last number in the Czech stock book, imported cotons were included, was 637 in February this year.

In 1998 was established club „ Klub Coton de Tuléar“ for lower number of members breeds.

This Czech special club watches breed of this nice race very carefully. Every year two Club activities are held which are: Club and special dog shows. The Club agreed and adopted its own breed rules on the base of International breed regulations FCI and breed rules of CMKU (Czech Cynology Union). The Club breed rules were agreed by “Central Commission for protection of animals” which is independent department of Ministry of agriculture and CMKU. On this ground the Club set up conditions for breed register of race Coton de Tuléar. Therefore males and females are agreed for breed in the Czech Republic according following conditions:

1.	According results in dog shows which were awarded in their age more than 12 months on the higher level of shows (national and international) and one of them must be club or special dog show held by Czech club. Cotons must be awarded minimally twice as a “good” or “very good”.
2.	Must be submitted vet exam record about luxation patella.
3.	"Bonitace" - worthness.

"Bonitace" is activity of commission which members are a supervisor of breed, a judge and a secretary. Coton is judged according current standard FCI. Every coton receives a protocol. Result of bonitace is even recorded in its pedigree. Results are "conditions for breed are fulfilled" or "conditions for breed are not fulfilled". Bonitace is realised in framework the Club activities. Age criteria for breeding are:

• male – from 15 month without any limit
• female – from 15 months to 8 years

As far mating only breed cotons are allowed to mate on the base valid cover certificate which was made by a supervisor of breed. Female can have only 1 litter a year. The Czech Coton Club watches puppies in breeding stations very carefully. When new puppies are born in Czech kennel and their age is between 6. to 7 weeks and more a supervisor of breed or regional breed supervisor checks a litter. Examination is realised after tattoo of puppies. Watched is state of mother and her puppies in what conditions they are grown and its quality according standards following their age and e.g. This exam is appreciated especially by beginners in breeding as they can be advised by supervisor of breed. The Club has its own "Punishment rules" and "Statutes" of course the Club co-operates with vet doctors as well. The Club intents to adopt another resolution concerning duty to let exam for PRA. The Club gives prestige titles as: "Club champion" and "Club junior champion". The Club also organises twice a year meetings of club members so called "Member´s meeting" which is held in framework of the Club activities. The Czech Club Coton de Tuléar is a member of CMKU which is regular member of FCI.

And what to greet to cotons on the end. The same as we have said on the begin of this leaflet. Let cotons more and more win and gain hearts of people in the whole World.
