Description:
The JPS Labs company, the designer Joe Skubinski, respectively, started
to manufacture his products in 1990. Construction of this connecting cable
model called UltraConductor is based on the more expensive well-acclaimed
Superconductor2 model. It’s a
relatively thin cable with the diameter of ca. 5mm, outer insulation of blue
PVC. Two inner conductors are made of the above-mentioned alloy of CU and AL
that has been developed by the JPS Labs. Kapton material /military grade/ is
used for the inner conductor insulation.
The conductor is of the solid core type. Qualities of the Kapton
material and twisted conductors allow the omission of the traditional braided
shielding. Considering the full core
the cable flexibility is excellent. It
is set with RCA connectors of a lower quality; two of them fit better, two of
them worse. The transition between the
connectors and the cable is protected by white shrinking foil with the company
logo. JPS Labs is conquering the world
under a motto “World’s Finest Cables”.

Notes of individual reviewers:
PB: Detail,
space, airiness and most of all unbelievable dynamics are the biggest
advantages of this cable. This cable
can be a cocktail of life for some lazier hi-fi systems. Ranks among the best.
MC: during the reproduction, very
pleasant and deep bass first of all surprised me. I didn’t expect that, the UltraConductor allowed my stereo system
to play lower frequencies in an excellent quality. Appearance of this tiny
product could deceit many people. Basses in the reproduced songs are clear and
perfectly controlled. The whole sound
range is perfectly balanced. The heights are not dominant. They are very
delicate and there’s no trace of graining.
It’s a balm for your ears. Space
and position of all instruments in the studio
is very readable thanks to perfectly delivered central frequencies. The sound can be compared both to the
Canadian cables and to the Purist Audio and Granite products. What’s the secret of these thin
interconnects. I think that the used material, the special alloy used by Joe
Skubinski for his conductors, plays the key role to put it briefly this
interconnect will benefit everybody who will encounter it. Honestly, I think
that it’s a pity for everybody who doesn't try it out. They are missing one of the most effective
bargains in this crowded field of cable
offer.
JM: Sound of details is a really
great benefit. Only in the heights you can observe a minor grain. On the other
hand, the Ultraconductor is a bit
“forward” in its sound. However all the ranges are really firm, especially after
you’ve reconfirmed the price.
PP: Did not evaluate as he did not
manage to remove the cable … (mechanical defect).
Super cable
for those who will not handle it often.
Sound character/ recommendations:
Sound “Plug in and don’t handle anymore”
Plus: All the sound qualities within the price range.
Minus: Connector and possible higher susceptibility to interferences.
Decreased mechanical resistance.

DH Labs Silver Sonic BL-1 Series II

Description:

Professional cable with silver-coated
conductors. Silver Sonic BL-1 SII type
is a cable with symmetrical geometry. It is formed by a pair of copper /OFC/,
thickly silver-coated conductors, dressed in Teflon co-polymer. Foamed Teflon
forms the inner dielectric too. The conductors are intervened by a strip of
anti-vibration material /poly-fiber/ and by a “deaf” insinuated copper
conductor. The Teflon considerably decreases the silver oxidation to minimum.
The silver is very clean, “of five nines” (99.999%). For the final shielding
the producer used a copper foil. The
outer part of the connecting cable is made of blue PVC. Quality metal,
golden-plated CINCH connectors are soldered on with silver. The cable set was
delivered in the length of 1m. It’s overall manufacturing is excellent.

Notes of individual reviewers:
PB: Very nice
middles. The voice is present. A very
interesting cable with fine sound. I miss slightly marginal frequencies. It can
be really perfect with small boxes.
JM: Open and neutral sound with a
precise transmission of higher frequencies. According to me it’s a prototype of
its class.
MC: Open sound with a perfect bass
control and brilliant heights.
PP: After connecting this cable from
DH Labs the heights are extremely clean. The middles a little bit in the front,
basses are very good.
Verdict:
The Silver Sonic cable is definitely worth your attention. It’s balanced
qualities qualify it for a favorite exceeding its price group.
