A SELECTION OF THE REVIEWS CONCERNING

HUDEBNÍ ROZHLEDY 1992
...his perfect intonation, refinement of tone and praiseworthy technique without any traces of "striving" resembled almost a violoncello execution. Jelínek's piano accompanist and wife Marcela Jelínková, contributed to all this with her decent, refined and always fully intergrated piano accompaniment.

THE BIBF JOURNAL 1998
...Miloslav Jelínek is a fine soloist and able to project a strong tone and keen musicality. His encore was beautifully uderplayed and all the more successful for that reason...

BASS NEWS 2000 - CD Review by Alex Korda DOUBLE BASS: CLASSICAL AND VIRTUOSO
Miloslav and Marcela Jelinek gave a superb recital at BASS - FEST 1999, one of the highlights of the week, and much of their recital recorded here. The choice of original and transcription, with old and new, works well and the programme demonstrates both performers complete understanding and empathy with the music. Miloslav Jelinek has a very lyrical approach, especially in Rachmaninov's hauntingly beautiful Vocalise and transcription of the Chopin Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2, but is equally at home with virtuosity of Bottesini's Sonnambula Fantasy.
The two sonatas by J. M. Sperger, edited by Klaus Trumpf, are becoming more popular as Sperger's music becomes available in print, and allow the performers to 'show off' in the outer movements, 'sing' in the slow mowements, but also demonstrate their musical worth and credentials. These performances are effective with clear and concise musical understanding and breadth, and amply portray a superb partnership. The Scherzetti Cervetti by Milos Stedron (b. 1942) were premiered at Bass-Fest'99 and are described by the compose as "a cycle of nostalgic miniature waltzes and their paraphrases, written in the spirit of music of the 19th and 20th centuries." They are certainly 'tongue-in-cheek' and are played with just the right amount of panache and élan. Well done.

BASS WORLD, WINTER 2000 - CD Review by David Murray DOUBLE BASS: CLASSICAL AND VIRTUOSO
This recording is a delightful album containing some very tasteful playing. The two Sperger sonatas are played beautifully. The slow movements are graceful and played with a perfect legato and cantabile quality... Bottesini's Sonnambula Fantasy is played virtuosically and passionately, with some ultra-fast vibrato for a change of color at times...
