Invitation to 4 July 2007 Ofcom workshop on "Licence-Exemption within Digital Dividend Spectrum"

"As part of the Digital Dividend Review (DDR)... Ofcom proposed giving licence-exempt access to some of the spectrum in the UHF band which will be freed up following digital switch-over.

"Ofcom invites you to attend a one day roundtable workshop to discuss the following:

  • "Should some of the spectrum that is freed up from DSO [Digital Switch-Over] be set aside for unlicensed use? If so, under what conditions?
  • Should cognitive access be allowed into the UHF band? If so, which parts and under which conditions?
"The intention of the workshop is to discuss the issues associated with these questions in order to provide Ofcom with additional guidance when formulating its policy."

"The workshop will take place on Wednesday 4 July 2007 from 10am until 4.30pm at Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA. A buffet lunch will be available. The workshop will be held under Chatham House rules and numbers will be limited to ensure constructive discussion."

"To register your interest, please email stakeholder.events@ofcom.org.uk. We would be grateful for your response by Friday 29 June 2007 and look forward to your contributions at the workshop..."
