MODI GAUDIO
RECORDER - Jan Kvapil
Following on from Robert Bakker's pioneering recorder classes in Brno in the
early 90s, Jan Kvapil's První víkendová škola hry na zobcovou flétnu [The first weekend recorder school] offers a systematic
professional level of recorder teaching for Czech players and music teachers (there are no
full-time recorder courses at the Czech conservatoires and music academies).
The teaching is based on one-to-one and
chamber music classes. The common lectures deal with the music and the history of the
instrument, period performance practice, ornamentation theory and practice; there is a
special stress on teaching.
The courses run for 15 weekends in a year; 30
lectures and seminars compose a 2 year cycle. The pupils are able to take exams.
The tutor, Jan Kvapil, invites
guests for seminars - players and makers such as A. Solomon, F. von Huene, P.
Leenhouts and the Royal Winds Music and P. Holtslag.
The První víkendové škola hry na
zobcovou flétnu is organised by Sdružení pro českou
hudbu a umění (AMAT).
