The International Early Music Summer School is organized by the Czech Music Society Prague. This course is for professionals, students and amateurs who are interested in working with leading European specialists in Early Music. Vocal and instrumental interpretation classes take place in the morning, in the afternoon you are welcome to take part in the chamber music and choir workshops. A concert is given every night by the faculty staff in the former stables of the baroque castle.
Course members are asked to prepare one or more works for their instrument, from facsimile or modern historically informed editions (romantic arrangements should be avoided!), the continuo parts should also be brought. You are encouraged to bring chamber music parts for various combinations. Most instrumental classes work a´= 415 Hz.

Summer course fee 360 EUR, students 300 EUR. This includes a non returnable registration fee of 40 EUR. Please, send your applications before May 15th.
The fee includes masterclasses and workshops,starting on July 10th,entrance to all concerts,accommodation in rooms for three, as well as full board in the viticulture school,starting with supper on July 9th ,and ending with breakfast on July 17th.These meals offer an opportunity to discover the hearty Czech cuisine –and Valtice is also famous for the quality of its wines!

studied singing at the Royal College of Music in London,with N.Boulanger in Paris,at Tanglewood and at the University of York.She worked with the Consort of Musicke,the
Gothic Voices, the Tallis Scholars,Musica Reservata, the Taverner Consort and the English Concert.

studied the violin in Freiburg,Paris and London,with W.Marschner,N.Chumanchenco ,E.Hurwitz and others.In 1990 he concluded his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.As a member of the Freiburger Barocksolisten,the ensemble A Musical Banquet Freiburg and Camerata Bern, he has toured Europe and U.S.A and taken part in numerous radio and TV recordings.

Catherine Mackintosh, UK
studied at the Prague Conservatoire and Academy of Music.She is a professor of the violin at Prague Conservatoire.She took part in courses of Baroque violin with E.Melkus in Vienna and others.In 2002 she led courses of violin and chamber music and performed in Japan.

Isabel Kraft, Germany
was born in America,where she took degrees in flute,voice and music history and began her personal study of early flutes.She has lived in London since 1978,performing in duo and trio with L.Carolan and E.Headley,directing the renaissance ensemble Circa 1500 and flute consort Zephyrus.She is a member of the Harp Consort.Her many recordings reflect wide interests from the renaissance flute to CPE Bach,Hasse(Gramophone Award nomination), Mozartflute quartets and 18thc.English and Scottish music.She teaches at the Guildhall School of Music.

studied flute at the Conservatoire and then at the Musical Arts Academy of Prague.After moving to Italy,he undertook the study of the recorder under the supervision of P.Memelsdorff at the Civica Scuola di Musica of Milan and continued his studies with the help of K.Boeke and M.Miessen.He performs regularly with his group „Musica Concertiva“and cooperates with the groups „II Giardino Armonico“,“Europa Galante“ and „Accademia Bizantina“ performing and recording for Teldec and Virgin.He is particularly interested in the pre-romantic repertoire for small instrumental groups and chamber orchestras,for both teaching and performing purposes.He teaches at Parma Conservatoire.

studied flute at Plzen Conservatoire,where he teaches chamber music performance.He studied the recorder with J.Stivín.For eight years he was a member of ensemble Musica Bohemica,later of the recorder quartet Michael Consort and the ensemble Musica Florea .He is a member of the orchestra of the J.K.Tyl Opera House in Plzen.

studied lute with L.Kirchhof and later with J.Hübschner at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe.He appears as soloist,as well as an accompanist and is a member of various ensembles.He records for radio and TV.His teaching interest includes the Romantic 19th century guitar,which was played with the same technique as the Baroque lute.

Jaroslav Prikryl,Czech Republic
President of Czech Early Music Society Prague and a professor of harpsichord at the Prague Conservatoire.He is the autor of numerous programmes popularizing early music .As a artistic director he led and developed International Early Music Summer School in Valtice.

studied music theory at the Prague School of Performing Arts as well as organ with M.Slechta ,J.Tuma,and harpsichord under J.Toll at the Dresden Academy of Early Music.He taught choral singing at Prague Conservatoire.In 1992 he founded“Capella Regia“.As a musicologist he is a recognized expert on early music from the Bohemian Lands and southern Germany.As a harpsichordist and organist he has given concerts in European countries and he worked regularly with the Berlin ensemble „Musikalische Compagney“He works with Czech Radio and TV.

is a senior lecturer at the Prague Musical Arts Academy teaching and researching traditional folk and historical dances,rhythm and stage movement.As an expert on the movement/physical expression on stage she co-authored aproximately 60 theatre and TV shows.She also worked as a choreographer and instructor in non-professional dance groups.She is the author of the reference book“ Dances from the 16th to the 19th century“and other numerous publications.She worked with the ensemble La Fiamma.At present she is the artistic director of the ensemble Chorea Historica.
