TOMÁŠ THON
(1962) was born in 1962 and has studied the organ with Professor M. Šlechta
at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague and with Professors S. Landale
and M. C. Alain at the Conservatoire National Rueil-Malmaison in Paris.
He has focused his studies on the authentic interpretation of the Baroque
repertoire and acquainting audiences with the lesser-known composers of
the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1992, he founded ARTTHON, Opava, which
publishes organ music of the middle European region from the 17th and
18th centuries. Tomas Thon is also interested in the 20th century organ
music of French and Czech composers, including J. Alain, M. Duruflé, O.
Messiaen, L. Janáček, P. Eben, as well as others. He has been a finalist
in several international competitions such as the Grand Prix de Bordeaux
and the Petr Eben Competition in Germany, and was awarded the Czech Music
Fund prize for his interpretation of the works of Petr Eben. In addition
to the Czech Republic, Tomáš Thon has also performed solo recitals in
France, Slovakia, Russia, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland,
Italy, Luxembourg, USA, as well as a series of concerts with the renowned
French trumpeter Maurice André. Recordings of his performances may be
found on CDs (e.g. Supraphon Records, Prague) in addition to performances
for Czech, French and Polish radio. In 1992 – 2000 he had taught in the
Church Conservatory Kroměříž and Janáček Conservatory Ostrava and he is
currently teaching at the Church Conservatory in Opava (CZ).
PAVEL HROMÁDKA (1969) is among the most young talented trumpet players in the Czech Republic. His interpretation activities date from his childhood when he was appraised in a whole series of competitions and different appearances. Pavel Hromádka’ professional career began to build with a Conservatory in Ostrava and subsequently in Janáček Academy of Music and Arts in Brno. He studied as with Jan Broda, soloist of State Philharmonic Orchestra in Brno. He was frequent guest of Festival of Brass Instruments (Žestiáda) in Ostrava. He increased his Master class quality by participating in the Concertino Praha competitions in Brno and Prague Spring Festival. In the 1991 P. Hromádka won the competition in Kraslice. Pavel Hromádka was presented in front of a domestic audience by Concerto from A. Jolivet with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava and by the Concerto from by J. N. Hummel with Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc. Pavel Hromádka became a member of the Janáček Philharmonic in Ostrava from 1992-1995; subsequently he became a soloist for the Central Wind Music Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior in Ostrava and since 1999 he has been a full member of the Music Ensemble of the Castle Guard in Prague. As solist he performed in different Eropean countries.
